Prof.(Dr.) R.A.Malviya
Principal, USL
Until a few
years back, Law was the last option for those who did not
succeed in finding a good career. But, the situation has
changed. Now there is a keen competition for pursuing a
career in Law. Because of on-campus interview and
placement facility, the liking for Law as a career is
growing amongst the talented students. Also, because of
increasing Court cases and emergence of new types of
criminal activities (eg., Cyber Crimes), law has come
under mainstream career. Now, job prospects for Law
Graduates are better than before – they can practice Law;
enter Multi-National Corporations as Legal Advisors and
Law Firms as Solicitors with attractive pay-package;
compete for Judicial services; join media as Legal
Correspondents/Reporters, join Legal Process Outsourcing
Organisations and Consultancies.
However, in today’s era of
globalization and liberalization, legal education cannot
function in isolation. It is necessary to know the
policies and practices followed the world over. Therefore,
the focus of legal education at USL is to develop students
who could contribute to national development and are
globally employable. It, thus, aims at a total development
of personality profile with a judicious mix of theory,
practical legal exposure and project-based learning.
USL, has a qualified and
experienced Faculty which is essential for achieving
academic excellence and optimization of results. USL
provides education that works as it offers well
structured, rationalized courses which suit the needs and
career plans of students and are of contemporary
relevance. The Prospectus of Studies includes various
significant disciplines, such as, Commercial Law, Criminal
Law, Intellectual Property Rights Law, Human Rights Law,
Environmental Law, Arbitration Law, Taxation Law, etc.
Rich study materials and
infrastructure are additional features of USL which enable
the students to get not only the best legal education but
also the best value for money.
Obviously, anyone aspiring
for a career in Law, USL is the right choice. Hopefully,
within a decade USL will emerge as one of the top Law
Schools in the country.
